UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNING RESEARCHERS IN PHILOSOPHY

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Sydney will be hosting a one-day workshop entitled \"Philosophical Issues and Philosophical Methods\". The workshop is intended for honours students and beginning postgraduate students in philosophy. The aim is to introduce the participants to some of the big issues in contemporary philosophy, with an emphasis on the various methodologies employed in the pursuit of these issues. It may also be of interest to more advanced researchers: those curious about philosophical areas other than their own and those interested in metaphilosophy. Topics covered will be: History of Philosophy, European Philosophy, Philosophy of Science, Philosophy of Logic, Metaphysics, and Political Philosophy. Confirmed speakers include: Professors Mark Colyvan, Stephen Gaukroger, Duncan Ivison and Paul Redding.

This workshop will be held in conjunction with the Australasian Postgraduate Philosophy Conference and will precede that conference by one day. The workshop will be on Tuesday 25th March 2008 in the Department of Philosophy in the Main Quadrangle at the University of Sydney. Registration is free but please let the organisers know that you will be attending by emailing Caroline Hamilton (caroline.hamilton@usyd.edu.au) in advance.

* All honours and undergrad students are then also welcome to attend the APPC. Please register online.
